Tulsa King is back for its fourth season on Paramount Plus. With a fifth already on the way (as well as a spin-off starring Samuel L. Jackson), it’s safe to say that this show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Being major Sylvester Stallone fans, it figures that we’ve been major fans since day one, and we always enjoy being part of the show’s press day. While Sly is too swamped doing the rounds for his book, The Steps (buy it here), we did get plenty of time with the rest of the cast, and we’ll be running our interviews with them over the next few weeks.
First up is Garrett Hedlund. His rise on the show has been a bit of a slow burn. He plays Mitch Keller, an ex-con and bar owner who, in season one, sparked an unlikely partnership with Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. In the first season, his role was relatively small, to the point that I was curious as to why a name like Hedlund, who’s been great in starring roles like Triple Frontier, took the part. It turns out, though, that they were playing a long game, with him slowly emerging in follow-up seasons as Dwight’s right-hand man and the show’s second lead. Last season gave him his meatiest material to date. In season four, Mitch takes a step up in the organization to take an active role in Dwight’s latest scheme, horse racing, which puts him in partnership with Scarlett Stallone’s Spencer (who becomes a regular this season).
Our man Jay had a great time sitting down with Garrett, who also told Jay that he can’t wait to see the Stallone biopic, I Play Rocky, or to read The Steps, as he’s been a lifelong fan of the man who’s now his on-screen co-star. Check out the interview above! Tulsa King Season 4 is now streaming on Paramount Plus.
