Star Trek: Picard season 2 adds Annie Wersching as the Borg Queen

The Borg Queen has returned! It has been announced that Annie Wersching is set to play the Borg Queen in Star Trek: Picard season 2, making her the third actress to take on the role.

The leader of the Borg Collective first appeared in Star Trek: First Contact and was memorably portrayed by Alice Krige. The character later returned in multiple episodes of Star Trek: Voyager as played by Susanna Thompson, but Krige returned for the series finale, which is the last time we saw the character. It remains to be seen just how the Borg Queen will fit into Star Trek: Picard season 2, but the character isn’t the only former adversary of Jean Luc Picard’s to return for the new season. It was confirmed earlier this year Q (John de Lancie) has returned as Q, the omnipotent being who first introduced Picard to the Borg in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Annie Wersching is best known for playing Renee Walker in 24, but she has also appeared in Bosch, The Vampire Diaries, Timeless, Runaways, and much more. She also provided the voice and motion-capture performance for Tess on The Last of Us, a friend and smuggling partner of main character Joel Miller. Wersching also isn’t a stranger to the Star Trek franchise as she previously appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise. The second season of Star Trek: Picard will debut on Paramount+ in 2022.
