It was revealed at DC FanDome this summer that Warner Bros. was developing a big-screen adaptation of STATIC SHOCK, and THR has now reported that none other than Michael B. Jordan is stepping onboard to produce the project through his Outlier Society banner.

"I'm proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes; our community deserves that," said Jordan in a statement. "Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step." Should the film prove to be a success, it will give birth to a new franchise, but that's pretty much the expectation for all superhero movies at this point. First appearing in Static #1 via the now-defunct Milestone Comics, Virgil Hawkins was an ordinary teenager who gained the ability to harness electromagnetism after contact with a dangerous chemical. Static also took the lead in a very popular animated series that aired from 2000 to 2004, and went on to appear in episodes of Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice.

Michael B. Jordan will next be seen in WITHOUT REMORSE, a thriller based on the novel by Tom Clancy that stars Jordan as U.S. Navy SEAL John Clark as he goes on a path of vengeance to solve his wife's murder only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy. The film was originally slated to hit theaters last month, but was delayed due to COVID-19 and was later acquired by Amazon Studios. WITHOUT REMORSE is expected to debut on Amazon Prime Video next year.
