Steve Zallian rewriting Time Crimes remake for DreamWorks, not United Artists?

As far as decorated screenwriters who continue to do good work is concerned, Steve Zallian (SCHINDLER’S LIST, THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO) tops the list. And while the dude’s spent the last five years getting into the remake game (or adaptation, to be fair), Zallian more or less continues to push the envelope (he recently changed Stieg Larsson’s TATTOO ending). Question is, will he do the same for the American remake of Nacho Vigalondo’s TIME CRIMES?

According to Deadline, Zallian has moved the TIME CRIMES property from Untied Artists to DreamWorks, where – in a First Look deal with the studio – he’s now committed to rewriting the drafts of the script by Tim Sexton. Zallian is also producing.

For those who don’t know, TIME CRIMES is a 2007 Spanish time travel thriller about a man who accidentally gets into a time machine and travels back in time nearly an hour. Finding himself will be the first of a series of disasters of unforeseeable consequences. READ ARROW’S REVIEW HERE.

TIMES CRIMES, remake or no, continues a hot streak for Zallian – who’s currently seeing his TATTOO script be filmed by likely best director of the year (David Fincher, THE SOCIAL NETWORK), has MONEYBALL with Brad Pitt and Bennett Miller (CAPOTE) upcoming, as well as THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE on deck…not to mention his mob script I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES likely to be realized with Marty Scorsese at the helm, and De Niro, Pacino and Pesci in front of the lens.

Yup, I wanna be Steve Zallian!

Here’s the O.G. TIME CRIMES trailer.
