Stewie adds cast members

While The Simpsons continues to run on Fox Sunday nights, it was announced months ago that Family Guy will spin Stewie Griffin off into his own show. This is a long-time coming decision, as ever since its premiere in 1999, the evil baby character has stolen scenes from the rest of his family with his villainous accent and intelligence. The development of the series is off and running, as Variety reports that six voice actors have been added to the cast. The new cast members who will join Seth MacFarlane in Stewie will be Family Guy vet Mike Henry, along with Kenan Thompson, Vanessa Bayer, Melissa O’Neil, Aaron Lee, and Jessica Lowe.

Thompson will play a character named Royal, who is described as “one of Stewie’s new friends who’s got a ‘Hell no’ attitude about the hazards of Stewie’s adventures.” Bayer will play Morgan, Stewie’s teacher, “who should probably spend more time watching the kids, and less time partying.” Henry will portray BJ, who is “Stewie’s gossipy new classmate, and son of ‘Family Guy’s’ Bruce.” Lowe voices Caroline, “a wannabe influencer, and Stewie’s formidable classroom nemesis.” O’Neil plays Wanda, “Stewie’s intellectual soulmate and object of affection.” Lee will portray Skunk, “the hundred year-old class turtle who’s got a half-cocked theory about literally everything.” MacFarlane will also be voicing a character named Bean, “Stewie’s man-of-very-few-words classmate who was dropped on his head one too many times.”

Stewie Griffin on his own

The synopsis of the series is, “In the offshoot, after getting the boot from his old preschool, Stewie is forced to enroll in a new one that’s not exactly top-of-the-line. It’s attended by a handful of kids he doesn’t know, and a 75-year-old class turtle with a half-cocked theory on just about every subject. Stewie’s miserable, the other kids are miserable, and even the turtle is miserable… until Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure.”

Stewie was created by Family Guy‘s MacFarlane and Kirker Butler, who will be executive producing with Kara Vallow. Butler serves as showrunner. The series is produced by 20th Television Animation.
