Stranger Things

If the visual effects that were on display in the second season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things ever made you wonder "How did they do that?", a new featurette has been released to show the process of how several effects-heavy moments were brought to the screen.

The second season required a lot more visual effects than the first season did, and in the featurette embedded below series creators The Duffer Brothers, executive producer Shawn Levy, members of the cast and crew, and representatives of the visual effects team discuss just how challenging and innovative the effects of the season were. If you're interested in learning more about effects work, this clip is definitely an interesting one to check out.

While this featurette looks back at season 2, season 3 is currently in production and is expected to be released on the Netflix streaming service sometime in the summer of 2019.

Set in 1985, season 3 will see the return of established cast members Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Dacre Montgomery, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Winona Ryder, and David Harbour, while adding in new cast members Francesca Reale, Maya Hawke, Jake Busey, and Cary Elwes.

Also returning is the evil creature known as the Mind Flayer. The Duffers have said,

They've shut the door on the Mind Flayer, but not only is it still there in the Upside Down, it's very much aware of the kids, and particularly Eleven. It had not encountered her and her powers until that final episode (of season 2). Now, it knows that she's out there."
