New Stranger Things characters season 4

A lot has happened since we last checked in with the gang of Netflix's Stranger Things: A pandemic has swept the globe, friends moved to another town, voices have cracked, and the wonders of puberty have suddenly gotten very real. It's a topsy-turvy world out there, and nightmares lurk around every corner.

Netflix announced today the cast of Stranger Things is expanding with Season 4. Multiple actors featured in previous seasons will return, of course, but the show is adding some fresh faces as well. Netflix made some announcements as a part of Geeked Week, a virtual fan event offering first-looks at the streamer's genre upcoming series and films.

Making their way to Stranger Things for Season 4 is Annie with an E star Amybeth McNulty. She appeared in a video shared online today alongside Stranger Things creators/showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer. McNulty will play Vickie: a cool, fast-talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes.

Other new additions to the cast include Myles Truitt (Kin, Dragged Across Concrete), Regina Ting Chen (Queen of the South, Black Lightning), and Grace Van Dien (Charlie Says, Lady Driver).

Stranger Things has traveled a tough road toward production for its fourth season. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, production on the show shut down in March 2020 and didn't emerge from the Upside-Down until the following September. Naturally, this means it'll be a while until we see new episodes. In fact, it sounds like we're looking at a 2022 debut for the new season. Plot details for the fourth season are being kept under wraps, though Netflix has given fans a few hints as to where the show is headed. For example, we know that Jim Hopper is alive, after seemingly taking a dirt nap at the end of Season 3. He's somehow been transported to a Russian prison camp where creatures from the Upside-Down are being kept and possibly experimented on. Another teaser brought fans back to Hawkins National Laboratory's Rainbow Room and hinted at Eleven's siblings becoming a larger part of the story. I'm theorizing here, but I think I've connected a few dots, at least.
