In news I certainly didn’t see coming, Deadline has reported that Quentin Tarantino is set to narrate Showtime’s anthology series Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. The series will tell the story of the rise of one of Silicon Valley’s most successful and destructive companies and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Travis Kalanick, Uber’s CEO who was ultimately ousted in a boardroom coup.

Super Pumped will “depict the roller-coaster ride of the upstart transportation company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley. Even amid the radical upheaval generated within the global tech capital, Uber stands out as both a marvel and a cautionary tale, featuring internal and external battles that ripple with unpredictable consequences.” The series is based on Mike Isaac’s bestselling book by the same name and was developed by Billions co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien. In addition to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber also stars Uma Thurman, Kyle Chandler, Elisabeth Shue, Kerry Bishé, Geidt Babak Tafti, and Hank Azaria. Although Quentin Tarantino has certainly lent his voice to other projects, I can’t say I expected him to narrate Super Pumped.

During Paramount’s investor day conference yesterday, it was also announced that Super Pumped has been renewed for a second season. The new season will shift focus from Uber to Facebook with an all-new cast and center around the relationship between CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg, “which was at the center of the company’s transition from groundbreaking startup to the power it has become and the world-changing forces unleashed, intentionally and unintentionally, as a result.

Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber will debut on Showtime on February 27th.
