Sylvester Stallone teases his return for Expendables 4

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Who says that you’re limited to certain things just because of your age? That certainly doesn’t apply to Sylvester Stallone and the men of THE EXPENDABLES franchise, all of whom have teamed up to kick ass as a unit across three films. A fourth film has had a rocky time getting started, but Stallone himself just teased the next film and his own return.

Stallone took to Instagram to post two photos, one of them teasing the return of the gang for a fourth adventure, and one teasing his specific return as Barney Ross, the leader of the buff band of badasses.

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside…They’re coming back!

The movies have made over half a billion dollars at the global box office, so a fourth movie has always been a possibility. But the movie’s development hit a bit of snag when it was announced Stallone would not be returning over disagreements with Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner over many aspects of the production. After that, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would not be a part of the movies if Sly wasn’t involved. I’m sure we can all agree if Sly and Arny aren’t involved, what’s the point?

But it seems things may have been patched up if Sly is back in the ring, and hopefully, we will hear more about the director, casting and all other matters of production soon. The first two EXPENDABLES movies are solid action flicks with enough testosterone to fill a football stadium that smells of beer and grilled meats, but the third movie left things on a sour, PG-13 note. This movie will probably return to the R-rated format, and maybe not feature such a massive cast. Really all you need is Sly, Arny and a few other guys to carry the big guns and you got yourself a movie.
