Synopsis

The story of an impulsive sexual encounter which spirals into tragedy, theft, blackmail, and, eventually, redemptive love, Philip Haas’ Up at the Villa is set amidst the deceptive beauty of Florence and Tuscany during the rise of Fascism on the eve of World War II. Although a period piece, it tells the resolutely contemporary story of a woman’s journey from innocence to self-knowledge.
