Taika Waititi to play an imaginary Adolf Hitler in his next film

Taita Waititi Jojo Rabbit Adolf Hitler

After the huge success of THOR: RAGNAROK, I'd imagine that Taika Waititi could do just about anything he wanted at this point, and it seems that what he wants to do is to play Adolf Hitler, although not the real Hitler, just one who happens to be the imaginary friend of a young boy living in Germany during World War II. Yep.

Taiki Waititi revealed the news while speaking to The Wrap about the film, titled JOJO RABBIT, which will be a World War II satire about a "ten-year-old boy who, ridiculed by his peers and misunderstood by his mother, can’t quite figure out how to fit in. As the naïve young German struggles to understand his place in an increasingly Fascist regime, he resorts to an imaginary friend who can offer advice and help him cope." Production on JOJO RABBIT is expected to get underway near the end of May with Waititi also slated to helm the film. "It’s my version of… a lonely boy’s best version of his hero, which is really his dad," Waititi said. A character description added a few more tidbits, saying that "This is not the Adolf we know and hate, this guy is goofy, charming, and glides through life with a child- like naivety." That's more than a little crazy, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want to see it right now.

THOR: RAGNAROK is now available on Digital/DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD.
