Tamara Taylor & J.C. MacKenzie to lead October Faction series for Netflix

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Netflix has discovered their leads for OCTOBER FACTION with the addition of Tamara Taylor (BONES, SERENITY) and J.C. MacKenzie (THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, THE DEPARTED) for the upcoming adaptation of the IDW-published comic series written by Steve Niles with art by Damien Worm. Adapted and created by Damian Kindler, OCTOBER FACTION centers on a pair of well-traveled monster hunters, Fred and Deloris Allen, who after the untimely death of Fred's father, return to their upstate New York home with their gifted teenage children, Geoff (Gabriel Darku) and Viv Aurora Burghart). As the family comes to grips with their new and unwelcome situation, the children soon discover that their parents are part of a secret order that deal in all things paranormal, malevolent, and monstrous.

Joining Taylor and MacKenzie for OCTOBER FACTION are previously announced co-stars Aurora Burghart (SEX EDUCATION), Gabriel Darku (IMPULSE), Wendy Crewson (ROOM, AIR FORCE ONE), Megan Follows (ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, REIGN), and Stephen McHattie (THE FOUNTAIN, PONTYPOOL). The 10-episode series is being produced by High Park Entertainment as part of a partnership with IDW Entertainment. Kindler will executive produce alongside James Thorpe, Steve Niles, Thomas Walden, and Eric Birnberg.

Personally, I've read the first three arcs of OCTOBER FACTION, and I'll be damned if it's not a great series. It's something of a cross between The Addams Family and Van Helsing. Each character you meet throughout the series comes with their own set of unique monster hunting abilities, with the children in particular hiding more than a few surprises from their over-protective parents. In my experience, I'd found OCTOBER FACTION to be a sort of bizarre coming-of-age story, as Geoff and Viv come to grips with one day taking over the family business. It's a great bit of supernatural fun that should translate well to the small screen. In short, I'm really looking forward to this one, and I think that you'll dig it as well.
