Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel to begin shooting next month in New York

It's been confirmed that production on the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES sequel will start next month in New York City and Buffalo. EARTH TO ECHO's David Green is directing the follow-up (replacing TMNT's Jonathan Liebesman, who last week we learned will be helming a King Arthur project called MAN AT ARMS) from a script by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, and like the first film, it will be produced by Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.

Megan Fox and William Fichtner are expected to return, although neither has officially signed on yet. Last year Jonathan Liebesman said he wanted to explore Dimension X in the sequel, but with him no longer directing the movie it's not clear if the alternate dimension/galaxy is still in the cards. However, with villains Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady possibly appearing in TMNT 2, I think there's a good chance we'll be taking a trip to Dimension X (or it will at least be alluded to) in David Green's film.

Cowabunga, I guess? TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES wasn't as bad as most critics made it out to be, but in my opinion it still wasn't a great flick. Sure, a lot of kids seemed to enjoy it and it did very well at the box office, however most adults didn't have great things to say about the film. Do you think Green and company are capable of delivering a better TMNT movie than the last one?

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 is scheduled to open on June 3, 2016.
