Between 1973 and 1997, director Terence Malick released two films. Since 1998, Malick has given the world four movies with one slated for release this year. Aside from KNIGHT OF CUPS, Malick has a second film he shot back to back that could see screens by the end of 2015. Now, we have learned that the filmmaker's documentary for IMAX, VOYAGE OF TIME, will see theaters in 2016 in not just one but two different versions.
According to Deadline, Broad Green Pictures, Sophisticated Films, and Wild Bunch will help complete the funding for the film. Broad Green will have the option to release the movie in theaters after an exclusive IMAX run. In fact, Malick will be cutting a special 40 minute version for IMAX screenings with narration from producer Brad Pitt. He will also edit a feature length version which will be narrated by Cate Blanchett.

A celebration of the universe, displaying the whole of time, from its start to its final collapse. This film examines all that occurred to prepare the world that stands before us now: science and spirit, birth and death, the grand cosmos and the minute life systems of our planet.
What exactly VOYAGE OF TIME will be is unknown at this point. Some footage has been screened at Cannes but all we do know is that the movie will expand on the visuals seen in THE TREE OF LIFE, inspired by the work of THE MATRIX's Dan Glass and 2001's Douglas Trumbull. So, basically, it will be awesome.
VOYAGE OF TIME is currently aiming for a 2016 release.
