The 9th Life of Louis Drax gets an unreal poster

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Alexandre Aja's THE 9TH LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX is finally hitting theaters (in a limited run starting September 2nd), so we're actually getting a poster! This image raises some interesting questions. It makes it look like a fantasy adventure on the same side of the coin as THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY or maybe HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON, which is not what the more domestic, small-scale trailers have shown.

Also, of course it uses the "make a face out of something that isn't a face" trope that genre movie posters have been using since the dawn of time. But it's an interesting angle on a flick we haven't been able to really pin down to one style. Check it out below!

The film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Liz Jensen, was adapted by Max Minghella.

The 9th Life of Louis Drax begins on Louis Drax's (Aiden Longworth) 9th birthday, when he miraculously survives a near fatal fall. His doctor Allan Pascal (Dornan) finds himself tangled between his professional responsibility and his growing affections for the boy’s mother (Sarah Gadon), a fragile young beauty. When Louis’ father (Aaron Paul) comes under suspicion, Pascal realizes other mysterious forces may be at work.

The cast also includes Oliver Platt, Molly Parker and Barbara Hershey.
