The Cannibal Club Guto Parente

I spend a good amount of time in Brazil, so whenever there's news about a Brazilian horror movie it instantly has my full attention. Writer/director Guto Parente's Brazilian horror offering THE CANNIBAL CLUB is a film we first heard about thirteen months ago, when the international distribution rights were starting to be shopped around. Since then, the film has secured North American distribution from Uncork'd Entertainment.

Uncork'd will be giving THE CANNIBAL CLUB a theatrical release on March 1st, followed closely by a VOD release on March 5th. In anticipation of this release, a new trailer and poster have arrived online, and those can be seen below.

In THE CANNIBAL CLUB, Brazil's political elite are depicted as "a cannibal, machista, amoral, and grossly self-unaware ruling class." The film tells the following story:

Otavio and Gilda are a very wealthy couple of the Brazilian elite who have the habit of eating their employees. Otavio owns a private security company and is a notable member of The Cannibal Club. When Gilda accidentally discovers a secret from Borges, a powerful congressman and the Club's leader, her and her husband's lives are in grave danger.

It sounds interesting to me. I'd be wanting to watch it even if I hadn't already been sold as soon as the words "Brazilian" and "horror" were combined.

Check out the trailer and poster below and see if THE CANNIBAL CLUB looks like a film you'd like to watch next month.
