The films that make up the Conjuring Universe seem so innocuous to me, I forget that every one of them has been rated R. The Annabelle movies, The Nun, The Curse of La Llorona, all R. And it started when the first The Conjuring (watch it HERE) was slapped with that rating simply for being "too scary". The R streak continues with the third Conjuring movie, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The ratings board has announced that the film has officially been rated R for "terror, violence, and some disturbing images."
Scheduled to reach theatres and the HBO Max streaming service on June 4, 2021, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was directed by Michael Chaves from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who crafted the story with producer James Wan (director of the previous two Conjuring films). This one tells
a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, and they're joined in the cast by Ruairi O'Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard.
Wan produced the film with Peter Safran. Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Michelle Morrissey served as executive producers.
