Sony has just confirmed a release date for THE EVIL DEAD- April 12th, 2013. The remake of Sam Raimi’s classic film will hit right before the summer movie season and as for now has the date to itself.
As reported, the film will follow the same basic plot as the original- a group of friends heading to a cabin in the woods where they find a Book of the Dead in the basement, stupidly reading it. The big news for fans of the original is that there will be no character called Ash. There are some far bigger spoilers hanging out on the internet out there for anyone wishing to ruin things…
Filming will take place in New Zealand and is expected to start in March. Keep an eye in the ensuing months for casting announcements. As someone who actually has no problem with this remake at all (Raimi, Tapert and Campbell are handling it!) it’s going to be fun watching people’s heads explode over the next year and change.
