The Expendables 2 runs into trouble as it gets fined for apparently damaging protected habitat in Bulgaria

I really hope that in years to come THE EXPENDABLES 2 isn’t known as one of those ‘cursed’ productions. Late last month I brought you the tragic news that a stunt being performed by the Second Unit team went wrong and one stunt man lost his life and another was in critical condition. While this news isn’t near that scope of tragic, it seems the films team have gotten themselves into some hot water.

The team behind the film are in some trouble over filming at a cave, not just any cave but one that is a natural monument. Apparently some serious damage was caused to the area and they ‘unlawfully’ removed some trees to the entrance. This in turn has caused production to be fined (the exact amount has not been made clear), even though they had obtained the correct permits their actions have been a cause for concern. The area is home to a number of endangered species and it holds one of the largest bat colonies in all of Europe. So yes I’d say disturbing something like that, especially when endangered species are involved is not going to make you any friends.

Producers have now promised that they won’t be filming any explosions or fires as well as any car chases in the area. The cave is said to be a big part of the action within the film, with huge sets having been built for it. Let us hope that the next news we hear about the film, wont be anything negative.

THE EXPENDABLES 2 stars Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnie Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Liam Hemsworth and Scott Adkins. It was directed by Simon West and it will hit screens next year on August 17th.
