Before THE CONJURING, James Wan ventured into the haunted the house market with the freaky, fun flick INSIDIOUS. The movie was a success and has since spawned two sequels, and now a fourth (and possibly final) chapter is upon us. The first trailer for INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY is here, with Lin Shaye’s character going deeper into The Further than ever before. That far in is basically just a prison for circus folk.
The first INSIDIOUS was surprisingly scary, despite a shaky final act, and I still watch it today and find myself jumping. The sequel, however, is a total mess, but the third movie was a great improvement, and I may like it as much as the first. This fourth film may fall closer to the second film as it looks sort of…silly. Not to say the Master of Keys doesn't have potential to be freaky, but there's nothing very scary about a demon who can unlock any car on the planet. Maybe if they need a villain for the new FAST AND FURIOUS movie they can give it a call.
