The Free Fall: Shawn Ashmore horror film gets January 2022 release

Screen Daily reports that Gravitas Ventures has picked up the worldwide rights to director Adam Stilwell’s horror film The Free Fall, with the plan being to give the film a day-and-date theatrical and VOD release in North America on January 14, 2022.

Shawn Ashmore (Adam Green’s Frozen), Andrea Londo (Narcos), and Jane Badler (V) star in The Free Fall, which centers on

a suicidal young woman who must contend with an overbearing husband.

The screenplay was written by Kent Harper, who co-wrote the 2008 film Surveillance with director Jennifer Lynch.

The Free Fall was produced by Paul Holbrook, Sean E. Demott, Gill Gayle, and Patrick Rizzotti, with Heisman Holbrook, Shaun Redick, and Yvette Yates serving as executive producers.

Stilwell had this to say about his film:

The Free Fall is a deep dive into the brutal confusion of a manipulative relationship. A horrific look at obsession and the gas-lighting that can possess us when we’re at our very worst. It’s an important story and I’m really excited for audiences to experience it.”

This appears to be the first horror movie for Londo. Ashmore and Badler both have multiple other genre credits to their name; Ashmore was recently seen in Aftermath, and earlier this month we shared the trailer for a movie called Surrogate, which co-stars Badler.

The Free Fall sounds interesting to me, so I will probably be checking it out when it’s released in a couple months. Will you be watching The Free Fall in January? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

This is the first solo feature for Stilwell, who was one of the five directors who contributed to the 2016 horror film The Triangle.

Myriad Pictures represents the feature film library of Gravitas Ventures for international sales and handles international rights on the company’s new releases.
