The Golden Schmoes: voting closes soon!

The nominations for the 21st annual Golden Schmoes are in, with Everything Everywhere All At Once leading the pack.

Thanks to your nominations, we have compiled the final list of nominees for The 21st Annual Golden Schmoes, honoring the movies of 2022! Final voting is on now and ends at midnight on March 5th, with winners to be announced on Friday, March 10th, with the Oscars set to happen the following Sunday, March 12th. For those experiencing the Golden Schmoes for the first time CLICK HERE to see what it’s all about. You can get a ton more info in our FAQ, but the process is a piece of cake and lots of fun. Even if you didn’t take part in the nominations part of the process, you can still help vote for the winners.

Perhaps the year’s most acclaimed film, Everything Everywhere All At Once was the most nominated movie of the year, counting a stunning 17 nominations and being nominated numerous times in multiple categories. The Batman was behind it with 11 nominations, while Top Gun: Maverick had 9.

MOST NOMINATIONS BY FILM:

Everything Everywhere All At Once: 17 nominations

The Batman: 11 nominations

Top Gun: Maverick: 9 nominations

Avatar: The Way of Water: 7 nominations

The Banshees of Inisherin: 6 nominations

No records were broken in terms of MOST nominations (which to this day still belongs to Christopher Nolan’s Inception with 19 nominations). Still, one thing worth noting is the amazing diversity of 2022 films chosen for this year’s Golden Schmoes. I think the fan community is often looked down on by critics who assume we’ll only watch comic book movies, but movies like The Banshees of Inisherin, The Menu and Tar did surprisingly well. Nominations like this make me proud to be part of the community!
