The Hobbit movies get titles and fan questions answered

Peter Jackson’s ambitious adaptation(s) of Tolkien’s THE HOBBIT are underway, and now we know exactly what to look for on the theater marquee (assuming your local theater has enough space on the sign).

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY starts Bilbo’s adventure on December 14, 2012, and THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN finishes the book on December 13, 2013.

The epic two-film tale features Martin Freeman as the wandering Baggins, along with Richard Armitage, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, and Aidan Turner.

They join returning players Ian Holm, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis.

Meanwhile, the filmmaker has started answering fan questions about the movies on his Facebook page. In response to whether we’ll see the White Council attacking Dol Guldor, Jackson states: “I’m not going to say just what and when, but I will confirm that both the White Council and Dol Guldur will feature in the movies. And not just in one scene either. Just how to visualise it has been a challenge, but fortunately Alan Lee and John Howe went crazy with ideas, and it should look pretty cool.”

Jackson also posted the below snap “of Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel brandishing an array of fearsome Elvish weapons.”
