The Last of Us movie update from writer Neil Druckmann

Last update we gave you on THE LAST OF US came courtesy of Maisie Williams, the “Game of Thrones” star who is reportedly a lock to tackle the role of Ellie in the movie adaptation of the popular video game. And while it appears nothing is 100% confirmed on that front, the film’s progress – being overseen by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures – is evidently going smoothly.

This new update is thanks to Neil Druckmann, the creator of the game and screenwriter of the film. (Who better?) According to Druckmann, he’s just finished a new draft of the script and the production is meeting with actors. He also hints some big changes are in store. Here’s what he told Game Informer:

Just finished the second draft and we did a table read with a bunch of actors and that’s where we’re at… Pretty faithful to the game; there’s some big changes, but the tone and what the story is trying to say is pretty faithful to the game.”

Will be interesting to learn what those “big changes” are, but even more interesting to find out which actors were taking part in that table read. Naturally, we’re not likely to learn those details until the project is fully in pre-production mode, which may not be too far off.
