Fox is taking another crack at Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The Tracking Board is reporting that a new film based on the comic is in the works, with Ira Napoliello, Matt Reilly and Davis Entertainment's John Davis producing. TB says Fox is "looking to nail the new adaptation of League, and is currently looking for a director to continue to develop the reboot."

The reboot will have no connection to the 2003 big screen adaptation, which is known as the movie that "broke" director Stephen Norrington and star Sean Connery. The actor pretty much retired after THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, while Norrington hasn't directed a film since, although at one point he was attached to THE CROW reboot. Fox was hopeful that Norrington's film would launch a movie franchise, however negative reviews and an unimpressive box office run ($66 million domestically and $179 million worldwide against a $78 million budget) derailed those plans. Fox tried to do a television reboot a couple of years ago, but the planned series never made it past the casting process.

I haven't watched the 2003 movie since it was originally released, however I remember it being cheesy, but still kind of fun. It would be awesome if Fox decided not to deviate so much from the source material this time around, but a lot is going to depend on who the studio hires to develop the project. What's your dream team of actors and filmmakers for THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN reboot?
