The LEGO Movie Sequel, Ninjago, and LEGO Batman Movie shift release dates

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE is coming sooner than expected with the announcement today cementing dates for multiple films in the Warner Bros franchise. Previously set for late 2017, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE featuring the voice of Will Arnett in the title role will now debut on February 10, 2017. This shifts the other announced LEGO films, THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE and THE LEGO MOVIE SEQUEL, to September 22, 2017 and May 18, 2018 respectively. THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE was previously set for September 23, 2016 but has been pushed.

Warner Bros hit pay dirt with last year’s breakout hit which grossed over $460 million worldwide. President of Domestic Distribution at Warners Dan Fellman had this to say about the franchise.

“We are very excited about dating our upcoming LEGO animated features, which already have a worldwide fan following, built on the foundation of the first film. These three films already in the pipeline are just the beginning of a creative and diverse animation slate that will be delighting audiences for years to come.”

There is also another spin-off coming from Jason Segel and Drew Pearce called THE BILLION BRICK RACE which still does not hava a release date. Still, with four films on the horizon, LEGO must be very excited for their fiscal profits. THE LEGO MOVIE was definitely one of the more original films of last year and fun for all ages. I think it was robbed of an Oscar for Best Animated Feature but there is always the chance for one of these films to win that honor.

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE opens on February 10, 2017.
