The Lost City proved to be a rare hit for the female audience and romantic comedies during the pandemic when it was released back in March and now, after respecting the 45-day theatrical window, the Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum-led film is proving to be a hit during its arrival streaming on Paramount+.

Per Samba TV, The Lost City was watched by 1.5 million U.S. households during its first six days of streaming on the Paramount+ streaming service. This happens even as the film is still showing in theaters after eight weeks of release. The film placed eighth over this last weekend with a gross of $1.6 million and it brought its domestic total to $97.1 million. With global grosses factored in, The Lost City has a worldwide tally of $165.5 million on a reported $70 million budget. I imagine Paramount Pictures will keep the film in theaters because it’s VERY close to $100 million and it’s still in 1,675 locations as of this writing. Per Paramount Pictures’ official synopsis, “Brilliant, but reclusive author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan (Channing Tatum), who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, “Dash.” While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her. Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.” The film also stars Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Oscar Nuñez, Patti Harrison, and Bowen Yang, and it features a pretty fun cameo from Brad Pitt.
