The masterful Rick Baker sculpts a terrifying Joker bust in time-lapse video

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Rick Baker has lent his immense talent to many fantastic films over his long career as a special make-up effects artist, including AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, MEN IN BLACK, PLANET OF THE APES, and much more, and he's remained busy despite his retirement from the industry several years ago. Baker's latest project found him collaborating with DC Collectibles for a stunningly creepy version of the Joker, and a recently released time-lapse video shows just how Baker brought the terrifying creation to life.

The life-sized 22" tall limited-edition bust was designed, sculpted, and painted by Rick Baker and will be available in two editions:

  • Ultimate Edition: Limited to only 50 pieces (numbered 1-50). Produced from Baker’s original molds, offering fans a version that is just one step removed from the Academy Award winner’s original creation. The bust showcases Baker’s original paint colors for The Joker’s shirt and vest. Each bust will contain a certificate of authenticity hand-signed by Baker. MSRP: $1500.00
  • Standard Edition: Limited to only 150 pieces (numbered 1-150). Features The Joker sporting an orange shirt and purple vest. MSRP: $1000.00

"When DC Collectibles approached me about this project, I jumped at the chance to do something with The Joker," said Baker. “The Joker is one of the most notorious Super-Villains of all time, and I had a blast depicting his twisted and demented personality through this bust. The DC Collectibles team was great to work with and gave me complete creative freedom to bring my version of the character to life."

Rick Baker's Joker bust is available for pre-order now, but will likely sell out quick before its release on October 31st.
