The Munsters: Rob Zombie shares a look at Lily and Herman’s sleepwear

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

If you've seen a good amount of the classic sitcom The Munsters (buy it HERE) and its follow-ups, you've probably seen Herman and Lily Munster in their pajamas plenty of times. Now Rob Zombie has confirmed that we'll be seeing them in their PJs again in the new Munsters movie he's directing. He took to Instagram to share images of wardrobe designs that may end up in the movie, Lily in a handmade nightgown and Herman in his platform home slippers. While Lily's pajamas seem a bit over-designed to me, Herman's definitely look like something we could have seen him wear when Fred Gwynne was in the role.

Something that caught my eye on these design images is that the Lily design is labeled "Sleeping Look No. 1", while Herman's is labeled "Sleeping Look – Los Angeles". I admittedly have no idea what it should say on wardrobe design images, but the "Sleeping Look – Los Angeles" line does make me wonder if we're going to see the Munsters venture into L.A. in this movie. While the Munsters live in the fictional town of Mockingbird Heights, they would occasionally go to other places on the original show, like a trip to a beach called Paradise Cove or a flight to Washington D.C. In the movie Munster, Go Home (which Zombie recorded a Blu-ray commentary for, joined by Eddie Munster himself Butch Patrick – buy the Blu-ray HERE), they went to England. We know for sure Rob Zombie's The Munsters will be filming in Budapest, but we haven't heard about any other locations.

I'm latching on to that "Los Angeles" line just because we have no idea what the plot of Zombie's Munsters is going to be. A synopsis has not been released. The original iteration of The Munsters ran for two seasons, from September 1964 to May 1966, and consisted of 70 episodes. The series

starred Fred Gwynne as Frankenstein's monster and head-of-the-household Herman Munster; Yvonne De Carlo as his wife Lily Munster; Al Lewis as Lily's father, Grandpa, the somewhat over-the-hill vampire Count Dracula who longs for the "good old days" in Transylvania; Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as their teenage niece Marilyn Munster, who was attractive by conventional standards but the "ugly duckling" of the family; and Butch Patrick as their werewolfish son Eddie Munster.

The cast for Zombie's film has not yet been confirmed, but the rumor is that Jeff Daniel Phillips and Sheri Moon Zombie will be playing Herman and Lily Munster, and they'll be joined in the cast by Daniel Roebuck, Jorge Garcia, Richard Brake, Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson, and Sylvester McCoy.

Zombie has confirmed that the character of TV horror host Zombo will be appearing in the movie.
