The Night House: new trailer promotes August release of David Bruckner film

Last Updated on August 10, 2021

When we shared the previous trailer for The Ritual director David Bruckner's upcoming film The Night House back in March, Searchlight Pictures was planning to give the film a July 16th release. If you're wondering why that date came and went and The Night House didn't reach any screens, that's because the release has been pushed back to August 20th – and to promote the new release date, we have a new trailer that you can check out in the embed above.

Scripted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (Super Dark Times), the film stars Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong) as a widow named Beth who is "reeling from shock over her husband's sudden death in the pair's lakeside home."

After a series of disturbing dreams become increasingly real, Beth unearths a ghostly presence in her home that vanishes during the day. An ongoing investigation through the house (and their marriage) turns up strange secrets and a mystery she must solve.

The cast also includes Sarah Goldberg (Barry), Stacy Martin (All the Money in the World), Evan Jonigkeit (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Vondie Curtis-Hall (Chicago Hope). The Night House was produced by David S. Goyer, Keith Levine, and John Zois.

Our own Chris Bumbray got to see The Night House at the Sundance Film Festival more than a year and a half ago, and gave it a 6/10 review you can read at THIS LINK. I'm going to be checking it out for myself next month, mainly because I really liked Super Dark Times (you can read my review of that film HERE).

In addition to The Ritual, Bruckner also directed segments of the anthology films The Signal, V/H/S, and Southbound. He is currently collaborating with Collins, Piotrowski, and producer Goyer on a reboot of Hellraiser.
