That demonic nun from THE CONJURING 2? Turns out her real name is Bonnie! Isn't that sweet?

Truth be told, that's the name of the actress who portrayed the specter in last summer's horror hit: Bonnie Aarons. With the character getting a spin-off titled THE NUN, it's only right that they bring back 'ol Bonnie. THR is reporting that Ms. Aarons will indeed be reprising the role of the nun (real name: "Valak") in THE NUN for director Corin Hardy.

The last bit of news we received regarding this film was on April 24, when it was reported Taissa Farmiga had joined the cast. At the time, it was rumored Farmiga would be playing the nun of the title, who could end up becoming the ghastly phantom that eventually haunts Vera Farmiga in the second CONJURING movie. With the news of Aarons' return, this rumor is thrown into doubt, but who knows what surprises the movie has in store for us?

THE NUN was penned by ANNABELLE scribe Gary Dauberman as well as James Wan, who is also producing. Demian Bichir stars as…

a priest named Father Burke who is dispatched by Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun.

For a bit of fun, here's Vera Farmiga's reaction to Taissa's casting:

THE NUN will bless theaters on July 13, 2018.
