The Pain Hustlers: Catherine O’Hara, Andy Garcia, Jay Duplass, and more added to David Yate’s Netflix film

Everyone’s involved in a hustle nowadays. The economy is in the trash, the job market is a joke, and making ends meets is a constant struggle for many. If you’re comfortable with where you’re at, consider yourself fortunate. Not everyone has that luxury, and in David Yate’s The Pain Hustlers, one woman is about to discover what it’s like to play dirty for those pulling the wool over the eyes of the public.

Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s CreekA Mighty WindBeetlejuice), Andy Garcia (RebelWrath of ManGhostbusters), and Jay Duplass (The ChairTransparentCyrus) are joining Chris Evans and Emily Blunt in Yate’s upcoming film, debuting on Netflix. Brian d’Arcy James (SpotlightWest Side Story, Evil) and Chloe Coleman (Gunpowder MilkshakeBig Little LiesMy Spy) also star.

A crime drama that warps perceptions of the American Dream, the official logline for The Pain Hustlers says the film follows an unemployed “blue-collar woman struggling to raise her daughter [who] takes a job at a failing pharmaceutical start-up, only to get involved in a dangerous racketeering scheme.”

Written by Wells Tower, Netflix coughed up $50 million for the blue-collar thriller, which Yates will also produce via Wychwood Media alongside Lawrence Grey of Grey Matter Productions.

Famously known for directing several films in the Harry Potter franchise, including all films in the Fantastic Beasts series, it’s been a while since Yates has laid down his wand for a feature outside the fantasy spectrum. Everyone needs a palate cleanser now and again, I suppose. Additionally, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to work alongside stars such as Evans, Blunt, O’Hara, and Garcia, to name a few? The pharmaceutical game is no joke and comes with an absurd amount of rabbit holes to jump down. How deep does the disaster go? We’ll find out when The Pain Hustlers comes to Netflix.
