The Requin: Alicia Silverstone, James Tupper star in shark thriller

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Deadline has unveiled a first look image from the upcoming shark thriller The Requin, which stars Alicia Silverstone and James Tupper. You can see this image below.

Written and directed by Le-Van Kiet, The Requin follows

a couple on a romantic getaway in Vietnam, who find themselves stranded at sea after a massive tropical storm sweeps away their seaside villa. With the husband maimed and dying, the wife must fight the elements alone, while Great White sharks circle below.

Despite the Vietnam setting, filming actually took place at Universal Studios in Orlando. Ashleigh Snead, Aaron Koontz, and Cameron Burns of Paperstreet Pictures managed the production, while 828 Media Capital provided the funding. The film was produced by Ellen Wander and Jordan Dykstra of Film Bridge International.

Currently in post-production, The Requin is slated for delivery in June of 2021. Film Bridge has already managed to secure distribution for the film in Australia, New Zealand, Spain, France, Poland, Southeast Asia, former Yugoslavia, and Vietnam. Hopefully more territories won't be far behind.

The producers informed Deadline that completing the film will involve creating around 1000 VFX shots. Wander said,

Not only has Kiet delivered an exciting film to watch, but at its core, The Requin is an intense survival story focused on a woman empowered by her will to live."

I'm totally on board to watch Alicia Silverstone try to avoid Great White sharks.
