Sources confirm the second Star Wars Anthology film to be about Boba Fett

It looks like Josh Trank may have just lost out on the dream of countless fanboys. Coming on the news last week that he would no longer be helming the second STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY film slated for 2018, The Wrap has learned that the movie is in fact going to be about Boba Fett.

Since the STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY is part of the cinematic canon, that means that Boba Fett will have to remain the offspring of clone trooper template Jango Fett who was killed by Mace Windu in ATTACK OF THE CLONES. Fans have theorized for years that Fett did not die in the Sarlacc pit in RETURN OF THE JEDI, but I would place my bets that this film will take place between REVENGE OF THE SITH and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Boba Fett has been a fan favorite character since his brief appearances in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI. Numerous comic books and novels have explored his background outside of the films but with the relegated to a separate universe, producer/screenwriter Simon Kinberg has free reign to take Boba Fett in an all new direction. Now, the hunt begins for a new director to take over from Josh Trank and an actor who can slip into the Mandalorian armor.

STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: BOBA FETT (not the official title) is slated for release in 2018.
