Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse's vampire series The Strain has lasted a lot longer than I ever predicted it would. The FX series isn't getting Walking Dead numbers, but it's still going strong. In fact, it just landed a solid end-of-summer premiere date for its third season, which will be debuting at 10PM on Sunday, August 28th. That's a really great weekend slot, so presumably they have a reassuring level of confidence in the series.

Season 3 picks up with:

New York City as a battleground. Written off by the federal government, the people of NYC must fight for survival on their own. The question is who will win? Humans or strigoi? Meanwhile, the Master is close to executing an irreversible transformation of the world.

Season 3 of the vampire series will star Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Natalie Brown, Miguel Gomez, Max Charles, Ruta Gedmintas, Rupert Penry-Jones, Samantha Mathis, and Joaquín Cosío.
