The career of Albert Pyun, the legendary director who has dozens of cult classic films to his name, began with the 1982 fantasy film The Sword and the Sorcerer – a surprise hit that made nearly ten times its $4 million budget. Fans will be happy to hear that Scream Factory has announced they will be bringing The Sword and the Sorcerer to 4K UHD and Blu-ray (for the first time!) on March 15th, and this Collector’s Edition release is going to be packed with extras.

Directed by Pyun from a screenplay he wrote with Tom Karnowski and John V. Stuckmeyer, The Sword and the Sorcerer has the following synopsis:

Meet Talon, a daring mercenary who conquers castles and dungeons alike with his lethal three-bladed sword. But when Talon learns that he is the prince of a kingdom controlled by an evil sorcerer, he is thrust into the wildest fight of his life. Can Talon rescue the beautiful princess and slay the warlock, or will he fall prey to the black magic of medieval mayhem?
