Annabelle: Creation

Since the Conjuring Universe movie ANNABELLE was followed by a prequel titled ANNABELLE: CREATION, we were always pretty certain that the next film in the series wasn't just going to be titled ANNABELLE 3. We just referred to it as ANNABELLE 3 while sharing news about it because we had nothing else to call it.

As it turns out, the full title was right in front us for the last eight months. When James Wan, who started all of this by directing THE CONJURING and THE CONJURING 2, stood in front of an audience at the San Diego Comic-Con last July alongside Conjuring Universe collaborators like screenwriter Gary Dauberman and THE NUN director Corin Hardy, the screen behind them featured an image of Annabelle that was captioned "Annabelle Comes Home Next Summer".

Today distributor Warner Bros. released a short video to announce that the film's title is ANNABELLE COMES HOME. Okay, I'll go with it.

Written and directed by Gary Dauberman, ANNABELLE COMES HOME has the following synopsis:

Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target — the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends.

The film stars McKenna Grace as young Judy Warren, Madison Iseman as her babysitter / cousin, and Katie Sarife as the babysitter's best friend, with a special appearance by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren.

ANNABELLE COMES HOME is heading toward a June 28 release.
