The Walking Dead: World Beyond gets new promos, will only last 2 seasons

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

This past Sunday, the second half of The Walking Dead's tenth season began airing on AMC. When this run of episodes comes to an end, a new Walking Dead series is going to make its premiere on the same night as The Walking Dead's season 10 finale. This new series is The Walking Dead: World Beyond – and if you think it's silly for AMC to be moving ahead with a new addition to the Walking Dead franchise when the popularity of The Walking Dead and previous spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, are at such a low point, rest assured that AMC doesn't expect World Beyond to last as long as those other shows.

In fact, this show is going to be a two season limited series. Or, as AMC has referred to it, The Walking Dead: World Beyond is "a two season Walking Dead story". Both seasons are expected to consist of 10 episodes.

I like that approach. The fact that they're starting this series with the intention of ending it after two seasons makes me think this won't have too much filler, they won't be trying to drag it out like they do the other Walking Dead shows.

World Beyond is set in Nebraska a few years into the zombie apocalypse. The idea is that this is going to expand

the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest.  Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.  Some will become heroes.  Some will become villains.  But all of them will find the truths they seek.

New promos for The Walking Dead: World Beyond have been released online and can be seen above and below.

The series was created by Scott M. Gimple and Matt Negrete. Negrete serves as showrunner. The first episode was directed by KONG: SKULL ISLAND's Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Aliyah Royale, Annet Mahendru, Nico Tortorella, Joe Holt, and Julia Ormond star.

If you want to watch this two season story play out, the series will premiere on AMC at 10pm on April 12th.
