The fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon recently wrapped production, and Norman Reedus had bid goodbye to the character after playing him for sixteen years, but does this mean he’ll never hang out with his ol’ buddy Rick Grimes again? Not so fast.
Will Daryl Dixon Meet Rick Grimes Again?
The Walking Dead‘s Chief Content Officer, Scott M. Gimple, was recently asked by Brandon Davis if there’s hope for Rick and Daryl to meet up again.
“Absolutely, still a hope,” he said. “I mean, it’s very challenging for a variety of reasons, which have everything to do again with 2026 production. But things change very quickly, and I’ve drawn up all sorts of garden-of-forking-paths kind of plans.“
Gimple continued, “It might be a minute, it might be tomorrow, I might be off at the retirement home, but I think eventually we’ll get there. There’s enough source material, emotional, plotwise, that we could do something brilliant.“
The Walking Dead Franchise
Since its relatively simple beginnings in 2010, the TV franchise has grown beyond what I ever imagined. The original series spanned eleven seasons and spawned multiple spinoffs, including Fear the Walking Dead (8 seasons), The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2 seasons), Tales of the Walking Dead (1 season, with another on the way), The Walking Dead: Dead City (3 seasons), The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (4 seasons), and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, a six episode miniseries which finally brought Rick back to the franchise.
The third season of Dead City will debut on AMC on July 26, followed by the fourth and final season of Daryl Dixon later this year.
Norman Reedus Says Goodbye
Reedus posted a handful of behind-the-scenes images on Instagram, writing, “Finally going through these photos to check off from the last episode. … It was really hard to kill any of them. I didn’t post any of those here, but I can’t wait for people to see this show. The crew (was the) best I’ve ever worked with. The feeling of accomplishment when it was over was just amazing. Such hard work and so much heart put into this, I think you’re gonna feel it. It was a special season. I can’t wait for you to see it. It hits just way different this time.“
