Y’all get a chance to catch PIRANHA 3-D this past weekend? That shite was a blast, right?

Well, whatever you thought of Alaxandre Aja’s kitschy summer gore-bash, it looks like The Weinstein Company is intent on ushering in a sequel. And soon…

Word comes from EW, who claims that a $10 million opening frame for a relatively cheap summer blockbuster (it only cost $24 million to make) is good enough to warrant a follow up film. Of course, seeing the film benefit from decent word of mouth (READ ARROW’S REVIEW HERE) among critics and the masses only makes the decision easier.

Problem is, with TWC’s recent financial woes and anemic theatrical slate (what do they release, about 5 flicks a year now a days?), question becomes whether or not a PIRANHA sequel will go direct-to-DVD or actually enjoy a wide cinematic release. Let us know which stream these toothy little bastards will swim toward in the sequel.

Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break; a riot of sun and drunken fun.
