The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf trailer arrives 2 weeks ahead of release

I don't watch much animation, but one thing I'm going to have to make an exception for is The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an upcoming animated feature that serves as a prequel to the Netflix series The Witcher. I loved season 1 of The Witcher (you can read my review HERE), so I'm definitely going to be watching The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf so it can hold me over until the December release of The Witcher season 2. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will be available to watch on the Netflix streaming service as of August 23rd, and a new trailer for the film can be seen above.

Nightmare of the Wolf is coming our way from director Kwang Il Han, The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, and producer Beau DeMayo. The movie focuses on the character

Vesemir, the mentor and a father figure for Geralt of Rivia. The story will explore his early years as a Witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was made by Studio Mir, the Korean animation studio behind The Legend of Korra and Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender. Several months ago, a leaked image seemed to reveal that the movie has a running time of 81 minutes, but that has not been confirmed.

Inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. The show is an

epic tale of fate and family — the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

A teaser for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was released just a few weeks ago and can be seen below:
