Nightmare of the Wolf trailer teases The Witcher animated feature

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The second season of Netflix's hit series The Witcher won't be reaching the streaming service until December 17, but we don't have to wait all that time before receiving some new Witcher content on Netflix. The animated feature The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf has been given an August 23 premiere date, and a trailer has been released online. Check it out above!

Coming our way from The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and producer Beau DeMayo, Nightmare of the Wolf is going to focus on the character

Vesemir, the mentor and a father figure for Geralt of Rivia. The story will explore his early years as a Witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.

Several months ago, a leaked image seemed to reveal that Nightmare of the Wolf has a running time of 81 minutes, but that has not been confirmed.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was made by Studio Mir, the Korean animation studio behind The Legend of Korra and Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender.

I'm looking forward to The Witcher season 2 more, but I'll gladly watch an animated movie set in the world of that show in the meantime. It's been a long time since that first season was released on Netflix – about nineteen months. I'm ready for more Witcher action.

Inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. The show is an

epic tale of fate and family — the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

Season 2 has the following synopsis:

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.
