Great news for all of you jonesing for that ever-elusive zombie epic on t.v., this is the news you’ve craving.  AMC has given the official greenlight to Frank Darabont’s “The Walking Dead”. While we knew the show was being developed based on the announcement way back in August, it’s a whole new ballgame now that it has gotten the go-ahead. This means we can expect to hear lots of casting/creative news on the show in the coming months.

There is no start or air date set yet, but it’s safe to assume that we won’t get to see the show until 2011 some time. Gale Anne Hurd will executive produce and Darabont is in line to direct the pilot.

“Walking Dead” revolves around a group of survivors, led by a police officer, who travel the country in search of a safe home.

Looks like it’s time for me to buy the graphic novels…

Laurie Holden, from Darabont’s last effort, THE MIST.
