Deadline is reporting that Sons of Anarchy's Theo Rossi and A TASTE OF ROMANCE actress Simone Missick have been added to the cast of Netflix's Luke Cage, joining Mike Colter and Alfre Woodard. The site has also learned that Rosario Dawson will reprise her Daredevil role as Claire Temple for the series.
The casting breakdown lists Theo Rossi and Simone Missick's roles as (respectively) "Sonny" and "Missy," however Deadline has heard that Rossi has actually been cast as Luke Cage nemesis Shades a.ka. Alvarez, and he's described as being "relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling." As for Missick, the site believes she's playing Misty Knight, a former NYPD officer who, in the comics, got a new bionic arm from Tony Stark after losing hers.
Cheo Hodari Coker (Ray Donovan, Almost Human) will serve as the showrunner on Luke Cage, as well as executive produce, and filming for the series is expected to begin this month in New York City for its 2016 premiere.
