These new Lawless posters remind us that Shia LaBeouf gets top billing, not Tom Hardy

When I think of the upcoming John Hillcoat movie LAWLESS, I immediately think of Tom Hardy. The guy steals the show from every other actor in every movie he has been in. Just look at that STAR TREK: NEMESIS screen test. He blew Patrick Stewart away!

This final poster for LAWLESS shows us that while Tom Hardy is front and center, he is second billed after Shia LaBeouf. Obviously Shia is a bigger draw than Hardy, but I don’t think that will last very much longer.

Plot: LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County In The World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.

I don’t like that poster nearly as much as the ones that were released before, but the movie looks good nonetheless.

Movietickets.com has also scored some new art for the movie. This is a handy dandy chart comparing the two main Bondurant brothers to some more famous criminals of their era. I still would put my money on Tom Hardy’s Forrest Bondurant.

LAWLESS opens in theaters on August 29th.
