As previously rumored, Billy Bob Thornton has officially joined the cast of the DreamWorks thriller EAGLE EYE joining Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan and Rosario Dawson. Director DJ Caruso (DISTURBIA) created the role of a government employee tracking our heroes specifically for Thornton. It would appear Thornton is playing a somewhat villainous role though that isn’t confirmed. EAGLE EYE follows a young man (LaBeouf) who, along with a single mother (Monaghan), is framed as a terrorist and forced to join a cell that is aiming to carry out a political assassination. The script was written by Daniel McDermott and Hilary Seitz with TRANSFORMERS writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci producing for DreamWorks. Production on EAGLE is set to begin next month and the studio has already set an October 10th, 2008 release date. Thornton is currently filming the Bret Easton Ellis ensemble drama THE INFORMERS.
