Three possible titles for Transformers 4 have been discovered

TRANSFORMERS 4 is coming very soon. We have seen tons of new vehicles for the film along with some first glimpses of MArk Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammer, and Stanley Tucci filming the resequelboot for director Michael Bay. While we may still have no idea if the Dinobots will appear or not, one thing we can be sure of is that the final title for the film will not be TRANSFORMERS 4. All previous sequels have been subtitled (REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, DARK OF THE MOON), so I would be hesitant to think this fresh take on the series would opt for a number in the title.

With that in mind, eagle-eyed Internet patrons have discovered that three domain names have been purchased, one by Hasbro and another by the same agency that registered the DARK OF THE MOON website URL. While these names could just be upcoming toy products, they are likely contenders for the film’s title. They are:

TRANSFORMERS: APOCALYPSE

TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST STAND

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION

While none of those seems particularly great, I would think that all three sound like final chapters rather than the first in a new series of films. I would guess that THE LAST STAND shares too much in common with the crappy third X-MEN movie so I would count that one out. AGE OF EXTINCTION would work well, especially if you include the likelihood that the Dinobots will appear. The title could be looked at as a reference to the dinosaurs being wiped out. APCALYPSE sounds cool but just doesn’t seem to fit with the naming pattern so far.

TRANSFORMERS fansite Seibertron supports the AGE OF EXTINCTION title based on their research which points to that title. They also cite an interview with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura who apparently confirms the Dinobots will appear in the film along with the news that the film will have a global edition, meaning shooting in China will be incorporated into the main film instead of alternate international editions like IRON MAN 3.

I would venture to guess that whatever title TRANSFORMERS 4 goes with, it will probably sound grander and more convoluted than the film will actually be. TRANSFORMERS 4, starring Mark Wahlberg, Jack Raynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Bingbing Li, and Titus Willever, is set to roll out on June 27, 2014.
