How ya livin’ Biggie Smalls? The legendary rapper will be livin’ large on the big screen with Fox Searchlight signing George Tillman, Jr. (SOUL FOOD) to direct. The news comes after Searchlight issued a nationwide casting call for actors and non-actors alike to star in the film. Tillman is a longtime Notorious BIG fan who will direct from a script by Cheo Hodari Coker and Reggie Rock Bythewood. Longtime Biggie collaborator Sean “Diddy” Combs. As I’m sure you know, BIG was a heavy-hitter (no pun intended) on the hip-hop scene with songs like “Big Poppa” and “Juicy” before being killed in a drive-by shooting. BIG was single-handedly responsible for the resurgence in East Coast rap after Dre, Snoop and their West Coast counterparts dominated much of the early 90s scene. The film has been in the works for over seven years. Tillman has been strangely MIA since directing MEN OF HONOR in 2000.
