TimeCrimes helmer Nacho Vigalondo opens District 9-esque Windows

TIMECRIMES announced, for me anyway, the arrival of a really splendid new talent in the form of Nacho Vigalondo, who made an awesome, simple-yet-complex sci-fi horror story about just how shitty it would be to actual travel back in time… I’ve been anxiously awaiting his follow-up for a few years now, so I got pretty psyched in June when he finally announced his next project, EXTRATERRESTRE, an alien invasion flick that is apparently already shooting.

But hold the phone! Vigalondo is already hard at work prepping his follow-up to that, and it will mark his English-language debut. It’s another sci-fi thriller, titled WINDOWS, and while not much is being revealed about its plot, producer Enrique Lopez Lavigne says it’s “a thriller in the mould of District 9, reasonably low budget but with impressive effects and the potential to make a huge impact.”

Sounds like a plan to me! The $6.5 million project will be written and directed by Vigalondo and will be shot in Spain in both English and Spanish with a leading cast.

Meanwhile, there’s been no movement at all on the TIMECRIMES remake front, for which I’m am so, so glad.
