Last we heard of PROJECT X, a low-budget college comedy from Todd Phillips and producer Joel Silver, there was a nationwide talent search put out by the filmmakers for unknown would-be actors looking to become stars.
Now, according to Variety, those “unknowns” have been found: Miles Teller, Oliver Cooper, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Dax Flame, Nichole O’Connor, Thomas Mann, and Alexis Knapp.. Kirby Bliss Blanton is the chick pictured here. And this Dax Flame kid is apparently some sort of YouTube super celeb doing some sort of weird Andy Kaufmanesque thing.
Anyway, while the “outrageous high-concept” film has been under pretty tight wraps, insiders tell Variety “the story revolves around a group of kids documenting a house party that suddenly goes awry. Like ‘Cloverfield,’ the movie would unfold from the point of view of the person videotaping the party.”
The comedy, which begins filming next week, will be directed by first-time feature director Nima Nourizadeh from a script by Matt Drake (TULLY) and Michael Bacall (SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD). Phillips and Silver will produce.
PROJECT X is expected to open November 23, 2011.
